New Tiered Categories for Human Participation Research
In light of the rapidly changing situation, the KP IRB for Northern California is issuing further guidance and resources for researchers. Effective immediately, and applicable to all research involving human subjects, all human participant research is being categorized into five tiers, each with required actions by affected researchers. In addition to meeting the requirements of each tier, all researchers must comply with KP and IRB policies and requirements.

All PIs and study teams should develop a COVID-19 mitigation plan based on these requirements and check the site frequently for updates. The IRB will continue to operate while prioritizing submissions that affect patient safety and public health.
