People living with HIV have good treatment options to manage the virus, but are also at higher risk of cardiovascular disease and other health problems. Investigators at the Division of Research have started a project that examines the complex ways that biological, social, and other factors interact to increase a person’s risk of heart disease. They are using a method called syndemics.
