Longitudinal epigenomic study of gestational diabetes mellitus and cardiac structure and function

The goal of this study is to identify epigenetic changes  (evaluation of DNA methylation over time) associated with a previous history of GDM and the relationship of these markers to subsequent changes in cardiovascular structure and function in women during midlife (measured by cardiac echocardiography) in the CARDIA cohort. We will also conduct a validation study in an external AHA Center pregnancy cohort for this collaborative project.
