Edward Yap, MD is a physician researcher with the Delivery Science & Applied Research Physician Researcher Program and a senior physician and practicing anesthesiologist with The Permanente Medical Group. He is also a voluntary assistant professor at the University of California, San Francisco, where he mentors medical students, residents, and fellows.

Dr. Yap conducts research focused on improving outcomes for patients undergoing surgery, with a particular interest in regional anesthesia and acute pain management. As a physician researcher, he collaborates with anesthesiologists and specialists across disciplines to identify high-impact research priorities that drive innovation, improve patient care, and support better surgical outcomes.

Dr. Yap earned his medical degree from New York Medical College. He completed his anesthesiology residency and fellowship in regional anesthesia and acute pain at the University of California, San Francisco.
