Research Scientist Position - Population Health and Predictive Analytics

Job Description

The Division of Research of Kaiser Permanente, Northern California (KPNC DOR) seeks a physician health services researcher interested in studying and improving general outpatient care and population health through the use of predictive analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and clinical informatics. The successful candidate is expected to develop an independently funded research program, conduct scholarly research, and collaborate with Kaiser Permanente clinicians and leadership in developing and evaluating interventions to enhance outpatient care delivery and population health. These interventions could include embedding predictive models in the outpatient electronic health record or in cloud-based platforms. Depending on qualifications, the investigator may be appointed at the assistant professor, associate professor, or professor-equivalent level.

This position will be part of two established DOR programs, the Systems Research Initiative (SRI), which focuses on the processes and outcomes of hospital care, hospitalization/rehospitalization prevention, and use of advanced analytics, and Augmented Clinical Intelligence (ACI), which focuses on the use of predictive analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence for enhancing clinical care. In addition, the successful candidate will have ready access to and support from Kaiser Permanente population health operational leadership.

Preferred qualifications include an MD degree; completion of residency training in internal medicine, family practice, or pediatrics; and post-residency training in health services research, clinical informatics, statistics, geriatrics, and/or clinical epidemiology. Opportunities for clinical practice (20-25% FTE) are available, as it is desirable that the successful candidate remain connected with clinical care.

DOR is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer and strongly encourages women and applicants of color to apply.
