Sylvia Badon, PhD, is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Division of Research. Her research focuses on identifying aspects of maternal lifestyle during pregnancy that affect fetal programming of infant and childhood outcomes, and understanding the biological mechanisms that underlie these relationships. Dr. Badon’s research seeks to inform clinical and public health recommendations and interventions for healthy lifestyle during pregnancy. She is mentored by Drs. Monique Hedderson and Lyndsay Avalos.

Dr. Badon holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Chicago, a master’s degree in epidemiology and biostatistics from Northwestern University, and a doctorate in epidemiology from the University of Washington. Her doctoral research focused on maternal physical activity and sedentary behavior during pregnancy and infant growth.
