Aparajita Chandrasekhar, PhD, MPH is a Postdoctoral Translational Research Fellow within the Cardiovascular, Kidney, and Metabolic (CKM) Health Section at the Kaiser Permanente Division of Research. Dr. Chandrasekhar completed her PhD in epidemiology and her MPH at the UTHealth School of Public Health in Houston. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Rochester.
Dr. Chandrasekhar’s research interests include cardiometabolic health related to downstream CKM health outcomes over the life course. Her prior research examined psychological correlates of obesity. This work included investigating how obesity severity and discriminatory experiences are related to insomnia and sleep health. At the Division of Research, she will further explore how CKM syndrome develops over the life course, evaluate obesity as a driver of CKM syndrome, and identify critical windows for early prevention, with the goal of improving care delivery and optimizing patients’ health outcomes and quality of life.
