Samantha F. Ehrlich, PhD, MPH, is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Division of Research. She received her undergraduate degrees in biology and women’s studies from the University of Michigan; MPH in maternal and child health from the University of California, Berkeley; and in 2011, her PhD in epidemiology, also from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Ehrlich’s research interests center around the importance of the gestational period for subsequent maternal and child health, including developmental programming for later-life chronic disease and chronic disease risk factors. Her research focuses on physical activity during pregnancy for the prevention, treatment, and control of obesity and diabetes in the mother and child. Additional research interests include the implementation of interventions for physical activity promotion at the population level, particularly interventions to promote physical activity based in the health care delivery system.
