Bethany Rand Hallenbeck, PhD, serves as a Postdoctoral Translational Research Fellow at Kaiser Permanente Northern California Division of Research. She earned her PhD in Public Health Sciences and Master of Statistics from the University of Tennessee Knoxville, complemented by a Master of Science in Exercise Science and Chronic Disease and a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from the University of North Florida.
Bethany’s research focuses on identifying lifestyle and environmental factors that contribute to the development of cardiometabolic diseases, with a particular emphasis on pregnancy, postpartum, and early childhood. Her work aims to inform preventive interventions by utilizing device-based data to understand daily health metrics and their impact. Currently, she is investigating how device-based measures of physical activity and sedentary behavior relate to interstitial glucose levels in individuals with pregnancy hyperglycemia, postpartum device-based sleep and infant adiposity. Furthermore, Bethany is interested in associations between both physiological and psychological stress and cardiometabolic outcomes across pregnancy, postpartum, and early childhood.
