Juleon Rabbani, DrPH, is managing director of the Kaiser Permanente Research Northern California (KPRNC) Biostatistical Consulting Unit (BSCU), a research scientist in the Biostatistics section of the Division of Research, and an associate professor with the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Institute of Medical Education. As a member of the KPRNC Executive Council, he contributes to strategic planning, research infrastructure development, and the alignment of research priorities across Northern California.
Dr. Rabbani directs a clinical research portfolio exceeding $6 million annually, and leads a multidisciplinary team of biostatisticians, analysts, and program staff. Through the BSCU, his team provides statistical and methodological support for more than 400 active clinical research projects and contributes to over 100 peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations each year. Their work supports investigations sponsored by Graduate Medical Education, The Permanente Medical Group, the Community Health Research Grant Program, the KP Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine, the KP Scholars Academy, and other funders.
The BSCU advances Kaiser Permanente’s learning health system by supporting evidence generation across multiple clinical specialities, strengthening physician- and nurse-led research programs, contributing to community health priorities, and supporting organizational objectives related to accreditation, quality improvement, and Magnet Recognition.
Dr. Rabbani has served as principal investigator and co-investigator on institutionally funded studies spanning women’s health, emergency medicine, psychiatry, opthalmology, cancer epidemiology, advance care planning, and population health behaviors. Prior to joining the Division of Research, he directed research activities for several physician training programs at the Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center. He earned a Doctor of Public Health from the Uniformed Services University and a Master of Public Health from the University of Southern California.
