Justin J. Slade, MD, is a Delivery Science Fellow at the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Division of Research and a Cardiology Fellow at the Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Medical Center. His research in cardiovascular and metabolic conditions focuses on structural and ischemic heart disease and heart failure. Dr. Slade has expertise in quality improvement and patient safety and, following his training in internal medicine at Stanford University, he served as Chief Resident in Quality and Safety at the Palo Alto VA. In this role, he worked to improve the rate of guideline directed medical therapy utilization for veterans with heart failure and coronary artery disease. As a Cardiology Fellow, Dr. Slade has been involved in outcomes research pertaining to patients with aortic stenosis undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) in the urgent or emergent setting. He is currently involved in efforts to determine the impact of automated EHR-based algorithms to identify worsening heart failure events coupled with clinical decision support on implementation of guideline-directed medical therapy for this patient population. Following the completion of his general Cardiology Fellowship, Dr. Slade will be pursuing additional subspecialty training in interventional cardiology.
