Cardiovascular and Metabolic Conditions

cancer

Cardiovascular research is a major emphasis at the Division of Research. Through studies, such as Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults (CARDIA), and multi-institutional partnerships including the Cardiovascular Research Network, investigators study the epidemiology, prevention, management, and outcomes of cardiovascular diseases, including cerebrovascular and peripheral vascular conditions.

Research in metabolic conditions informs the prevention and treatment of disease throughout the course of life, as events such as pregnancy and the process of aging affect the body's major systems. Active areas of investigation include the prevention and treatment of acute and chronic kidney disease, endocrinologic conditions related to women's health, and social determinants of health.
